Back in 1983, Hellhammer had a t-shirt that read “Only Death Is Real…” For the last 25 years, Death Metal has been one of the most vicious and maniacal forms of extreme rock. Covering the obscene and praising the perverse, extreme Death Metal still reigns as a driving force that continues to devour all other forms of hard rock, thanks to a new dedicated fan base and artists that are pushing the limits of brutal metal. But with every movement, there must be a leader that carries the torch into battle. Leading the pack of this New Wave Of American Death Metal is a band from San Diego known as Carnifex. Their sound is malicious and their live shows are pulverizing.
